Our group had originally scheduled to summit Mt. St. Helena in the summer. But, when the temperatures climbed, we postponed . . .and postponed . . .until we had no choice but to hike it in December. Quite frankly, after reading several reviews of the hike, we thought we were going to be in for a slog — a “just cross it off the list” hike, but, that was far from the case. It snowed the night before our hike and the trail was a spectacular winter wonderland. The summit was a little cold and windy but the nearly 360 degree views of the luscious green below us made us stay well after our fingers and toes had gone numb. Turned out to be my favorite hike!
