Hiking Mt. Baldy was a challenge, but absolutely worth the work! The views from the summit were gorgeous!
The trail was crowded, but passable. Wear lots of sun protection. There is little to no shade on the trail, and you are exposed for the duration of the loop. Luckily, going up we had the shade of the mountain itself, but going down was very hot.
There were snow patches at the top that were an absolute blast to play in!! Definitely take a moment to scoop up some powder and throw it at a friend 🙂
Ascending the mountain was quite steep, but footing was secure. Coming down was the absolute opposite. Like Cucamonga Peak, the terrain is very rocky and it is hard to find stable footing. When you get back down to the ski lodge, don't be tempted to take any shortcuts (but do be tempted to get a beer!! It was quite refreshing!). They're even steeper than the regular trail. Do the extra mileage and take the designated trail.
Great hike on a great day! I would definitely do it again!
