This trail was closed by snow only a few weeks ago but today it was busy with day hikers and PCT thru hikers!   We left early to beat the heat wave and the sun stayed behind Mt Eddy much of the way.   The recommended AllTrails hike and trailhead are temporarily closed to build a boardwalk across the marsh which is a very good thing.  Try AllTrails “Mt Eddy via PCT at Parks Creek” and the Parks Creek trailhead.  Maybe two miles longer but a few hundred feet less climbing.  We hiked with dogs and this is a pretty good trail for them.  Some rocks but we didn’t put their boots on.  Several springs and lakes for them.  Awesome 360 degree views on top from a really nice summit.   If you look close at the pictures you can see Black Butte in the shadow of Mt Shasta and Castle Crags, all three of which are on this challenge.

We also hiked this trail for the Mount Shasta Trail Challenge which is the fun free local challenge by the group that maintains many of these trails.
