Well that wasn't quite what I expected!
Got an early start, my wife and I were on the trail at around 7:30am. Nice first 30 minutes of hiking on a narrow trail in the trees, which then opened up onto a logging trail. The wind increased as we got higher and then we started getting some snow on the ground. By the time we were 3/4 of the way up there was probably 2-3 inches of fresh snow underfoot and the wind had really picked up. We managed to get to the summit but didn't hang around – it was very cold and blustery. Only one couple ahead of us on the hike, but we saw lots more as we descended.
The great benefit of the hike was that 30 minutes or after reaching the car we were sat in a lovely bar in St Helena enjoying a nice drink!
