This is a mountain repeat for this summit season. A friend from the coast and I planned to hike up Mt. Bachelor in September, but we had to move our plans to October. We hoped we could squeeze it in before the snow hit, but no such luck. The trail was covered so we did our best to navigate without the trail. We were only able to get to just over 8,000 feet before turning around. We were prepared for snow and cold weather, but didn't expect it to be deep yet. Eventually it was the postholing that led us to turn around. We should have brought our snowshoes. We enjoyed our day. The snow was beautiful! We ended up exploring the cat roads in between all the lifts and got to see more of Bachelor than I ever have before. An added bonus was that we got to glimpse the annular eclipse through the moving clouds. All in all, a great day on the mountain!
