Waking up to snow on the ground and 38 degrees didn't necessarily motivate me for one of my favorite area hikes. But since I took the day off and had planned to do Bergen Peak I figured why not?
Since I almost never get to hit the trails on a weekday I quickly changed my mind. Although it was cloudy with an intermittent sprinkle, the fact that there were very few people out on the trail and the temperature was actually perfect for a strenuous walk up Bergen Peak. I started at the Meadowview Trailhead and traversed over the meadows and climbed up via the Too Long Trail. Being a little out of shape it was nice not to overheat! I hit the summit during a brief snow flurry and the surrounding peaks were under cloud cover so didn't hang out too long. Descended all the way on the Bergen Peak Trail.
All in all it turned out to be a beautiful day for a hike!
