Beautiful bluebird day for a hike. Temperature was a little above freezing when I started around 7:30am. As others have mentioned, trail was covered in mostly hard-packed snow and for the most part was easy to follow due to the footprints. Micro-spikes are a must as there are lots of icy spots. Couple spots after the Mt. Pinos summit to the Sawmill saddle that I lost the trail completely but was navigating with All Trails GPS and it was pretty easy to get back on track (or close enough that I was headed in the right direction). Passed one runner coming down right at the trailhead and then not another soul the entire way up, 3 people on my way down headed up. Highly recommend the weekday to have this trail to yourself.
