The hike up was more enjoyable than I was expecting! It was a gorgeous cool [cold!] day so I was lucky enough to miss the bugs. Our group was so excited to have snow at the anti-climatic parking lot, errr… I mean summit. We walked past the observatory to a gorgeous outlook, but sadly, low fog rolled in just as we summited.
We trekked back down quickly; probably too quick as my knees started to hurt with ~3 miles to go.
Also, our group logged the route up from Sierra Madre at almost 17 miles with 5k in elevation gain. So… budget a little extra time:)
