Started at 6:11 AM to beat the heat. The first mile of the trail was forested and the bugs were in full force even at 6 AM. Once out of the wooded area the bugs ceased. Light cloud cover helped with keeping the heat at bay.  On the way up I had the trail to myself. I took a long rest at the top, roughly an hour. On the trail I saw mountain lion scat, two separate groups of California quails, a flock of turkeys and a rattle snake on the trail yards from the parking lot on the return around 11:40 AM.
