You don't hike this trail you climb it!
Normally going down is faster than going up not on this trail. It's steep! With over 4000+ elevation gain in 6 miles you get little rest.
I pushed hard for Little Round Valley and then stopped for second breakfast. Thinking I had just over a mile left the hard part was over. Nope! You work for every bit of the summit.
Even though it was tough it was a perfect day to go with some amazing views as a reward. Going on a Friday before the busy weekend was the best idea. I saw maybe 10 people the whole day and no one until I hit the top. I honestly wondered if I had the whole mountain to myself.
The first mile or so there were some small bothersome flies. They didn't bite they just wanted to be in you eyes and I felt like I was going to breathe them in. Lol They stayed behind once I hit mile 2 and a bit more breeze was available.
Other than that it's just climb climb climb. There are some downtown trees blocking the trail, most people have made way to walk around. And the trail is pretty rocky except for the mile you hike on the PCT and through Little Round Valley. Lots of water. I was easily able to fill up and not have to carry as much as I thought.
This peak will conclude my six pack of peaks challenge! 🎉 🥇
