This hike was my first six pack of peaks hiking that I did without my Boy Scout Troop. Thankfully I went with my mom and sister. We were originally going to go to Mt. Baldy but due to the bad timing of the wildfires we were unable to. Fortunately Sitton Peak opened up but the parking lot was still closed and there was a hint of smoke in the air the entire hike. The first four miles were extremely serene and was a generally nice hike. It was an enjoyable experience, it felt more like a Sunday walk. The last mile to the peak felt like rock climbing. The last mile it was extremely steep, I often had to use my hands to assist myself as I got up. I had forgotten my hiking poles that day but surprisingly I think that it was better without them since my hands were free and able to push off against the ground and grab rocks as I was going up. When we got up the view was extremely pretty, the vegetation was a bright green and it was a partially cloudy day. Although we did notice the area in which the fire took place, we also spotted a cloud of smoke that was in the distance. At the peak we ate some fruit and corn, after a while of resting we made our descent. When we were descending the hard mile I accidentally slipped and hit a Spiderman pose. Finally when we got past the hard mile we just continued to walk the last four miles as we played music from our phones. There was little to no people the entire time. The times we saw people where when we were descending, even then it was a small amount. The drive home was very scenic as we viewed Lake Elsinore on the way.
