I hiked Strawberry Peak on Monday September 30. I am not used to weekday hikes and the trail was so empty that I had to check when I got home whether it actually was closed. (I had checked the day before but wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything). I started before sunrise and only saw two other hikers the whole morning – and that was when I was almost finished with the hike. Having completed Strawberry Peak twice before, I was used to a crowd of hikers at the summit.
I was able to beat the heat, so the weather wasn't too bad, but I was surprised by how smoky the air was at the summit as it is miles away from the fires. Because of that, I did not stay long and headed back down.
Just one hike left to complete my fourth Six Pack of Peaks challenge. I am hoping to do Chantry Flat/Mt. Wilson when it reopens .
