This was my first six pack of peaks hike and I conquered it solo. It was a Monday so the trail was relatively empty and I only ran in to about three people along the way. It was so peaceful and magical. The trails were a bit icy towards the top and I had to utilize micro-spikes for the last mile and half or so. I even had the summit to myself for a good while and it was amazing to take in the views from the top without a soul in sight. It was quiet and I felt on top of the world. I did pass a hiker near the peak that had to get in contact with the sheriff for a rescue because he had slipped a bit and was concerned about getting back down. It was smart of him to ask for help when he was unsure about the descent. Winter hiking can be precarious and it's better to ere on the side of caution. I am glad he was safe. On a personal level, I was so happy to have ventured out that day and taken on my first of the six packs. I am so looking forward to checking off the rest of them. There's something so satisfying and rewarding to using my own two feet to climb up and down giant mountains.
