I took the Ranger Route up to Tamarack Valley and from there joined the Main Trail briefly. Snow cover was solid from 9000′. At first trail runners and microspikes were OK, but switched to boots at the Main Trail. The track on the Main Trail was not good, so I kick stepped straight up to the top of the trail. Not recommended for a fat old guy, but done is done. Up to the top for a picture and a snack and then down to Miller and glissaded and hiked down to the valley and out. It's shorter and steeper. As always the hardest part is up the ramp to the tram.
