A group of six met at the parking lot at 5AM, where we were surprised to find the parking lot nearly full, with numerous vehicles parked roadside as well. We departed the trail head at 5:16AM. With a mix of hiking and running the entire trip up, reaching the summit in just under 3 hours. Slight cloud cover and some lingering smoke pollution from a nearby fire caused diminished view, but still very worth it!
We passed a minimum of 30 people on the way up, double that on the way down. 3 of us ran the entire way down, including the slippery, nasty hill of scree. W reached the parking lot in just under an hour, for a round trip moving time of 3:48, not too bad for my first mountain summit! Note: our group was composed of all runners from a local running club
