What an amazing trip! My partner and I headed out to Green Lakes on Friday after work, hiked in 4 miles, and camped for the night. Saturday morning we started up a non-maintained user trail from Green Lakes to South Sister. There was a ton of loose scree and steep slopes that made the 4 miles to summit challenging, but we also got amazing views of multiple glaciers and a more back-country feel since we only saw a couple of other people on this trail. We met up with the main South Sister trail at Tear Drop lake and trudge up the ridge line to the top. Beautiful views the entire way and honestly, after our scree climbing, the ridge was not even the hardest part of our hike. Not too windy at the top and a long, but beautiful hike down and out. Definitely would recommend this hike to others!!
