Someone on All Trails posted a review that this trail is like being on a stair master for a couple hours … and that is definitely what it’s like ????
Steady incline the entire way up, didn’t feel too bad until I hit my altitude wall and then struggled through it and the last (steeper) quarter of a mile.
Lots of people on the trail, lots of very friendly dogs. Trail itself is in good condition – fairly smooth sailing but with a couple downed trees to scramble over.
we took the little side trail to Lamel Spring to check it out – it’s a tiny spring coming from the mountain very short distance off the trail. And there’s a cool rock to take a picture on when you forget to take the flag out of the bag at the summit ????♀️
we got to the parking lot just after 730 and got the last space in the main lot. Extra lots across the street and just west of the main one. There were cars parked on the street as well by the time we got down. So definitely a busy hike!
oh yeah, and there isn’t a hand held altitude sign. Apparently there used to be one?
