Great hike with incredible views of Mt Shasta and surrounding area. Accessing trailhead is not obvious. Don’t rely solely on apple or google maps. Get flyer at ranger station in Mt Shasta, I’m also uploading image. This is a very rocky hike. Not really loose scree but more rock hopping. Not a bad idea to wear boots instead of trail runners. Poles might help but I didn’t need them. Take a nice break at the top so your ankles can cool down before the descent. There is a blown out rock weir that you should pass quickly. We brought dogs but they were wearing shoes for the rocks.
