The trail was in excellent condition although there were a couple of fallen trees on the trail but which could be either gone over or walked around easily. The sky was overcast but it did not rain and made for excellent weather in the hike. The trail was somewhat soft in places due to the recent rains but by and large the trail was not as muddy as I thought it would be and was firm for most of the hike. There were some wildflowers and some berries. Sierra Club was out with one group doing the day hike as part of their annual Wilderness Travel Course. There were other volunteers doing maintenance work on the trail by trimming excess foliage. But most of the time I was by myself and when I got to the summit no one else was there. I stayed for about 30 minutes at the summit before heading back to the car. Although I did this hike at midday, it was still daylight and not yet sunset when I arrived back at my car. This is my first hike for the So-Cal Challenge in 2024 and an excellent start.
