Warm up starting 6 pack of peaks challenge after too much couch potatoing!
Parked at Stinson Beach.
Used All Trails app to make sure we don’t take wrong turns.
Started up Dipsea Trail as it is less steep than Matt Davis (rather go down that one, not up!).
Moderate and beautiful trail. Didn’t bump into too many people as we started around 8am. Hills were green with a few blooming flowers, great views of the ocean.
Then you get into the redwood forest in the shade next to a river. That running water noise accompanying almost rest of the upward trail, can’t get any better.
Don’t want to give too many details and be a spoiler.

At Pantoll campground we took Matt Davis trail back down to Stinson Beach.
Lots of zig zagging and keeping eyes on path to not trip over roots and rocks.

Heading to the car, got some delicious chicken nachos at Breakers Café. Highly recommended!

Since the weather was spectacular, walked by the beach checking if we could find sand dollars, but failed.

Will have to come back to complete peak challenge and reach the summits.

  1. Congratulations! It’s such a beautiful hike that I did with my wife earlier this year (I’m going to do it again with my son and log it). How cool is the ladder at the steep ravine? I’m glad you got to enjoy the beautiful weather. I did Mt. St. Helena today
