Beautiful, clear sunset views and hues and one of my favorite panoramas on the Olympic Peninsula.
Started at 2:58pm from the parking lot. It takes about 10 minutes to hike to the trailhead. Made it to the 1st major overlook in an hour and the end of the maintained trail sign at 4:02pm. It's 15 minutes from there to the summit. At the ropes I put away my trekking poles and brought out some lightweight, durable gloves. It's a scramble to the top (I find myself crab-walking parts), but so beautiful once you reach the peak!
Overall hike time: 2 hours, 38 minutes (includes 20 minutes at the top)
Changes Since 2021
A few changes I noticed to the trail since last year: 2 trees down across the path (one near the trailhead) and new “Halloween” ropes (black and orange).
Tip
Bring trekking poles for the climb and gloves for the ropes! Neither are required, but both are helpful.
