Strawberry peak via Redbox canyon: 7.6 mi, 3:50 hrs, 1878 ft elevation gain. My very first peak in the six-pack challenge! The peak and parts of the trail covered in snow! Did not expect that so got my feet wet and had hard time with at times slippery trail while hiking in my running shoes! The snow had apparently fallen over night and was melting quickly. Last mile or so to the peak quite challenging and required some rock scrambling. Only because of that this trail earns moderate difficulty level in my opinion. Weather sunny and nice, temps around 50ies, colder at the bottom of trail and some wind on top but nothing crazy. Fun hike overall!

Was there any ice on the trail? Did you use microspikes or feel that they would have helped?
There was no ice at that time. The snow had just apparently fallen overnight and was melting quickly. The wet snow is what made it slippery. I would have used microspikes for some portions of the trail if I had them, but I was unprepared as I did not expect the snow to be there.
