We started the trail just east of Red Box Road about 6:30 am. Morning was cool but clear and looking to be a good day for a hike. The first two miles or so were quite easy and relatively flat. The thing about the trail to Strawberry Peak, though, is that the trails that appear to be the right trail we’re not, nor were there signs other the one marking the trail at the start. After getting onto the wrong trail, we ended up at Strawberry Meadow- below the peak! We had to double back, which added another 3 miles to the strenuous hike. We headed back to the saddle and got back on the correct track. The strenuous part was the last mile and a half to the peak. I wouldn’t call it a scramble, but there are some rocks to climb. I was glad to finally meet the peak after a hike made longer. And yes, the views were very pretty.
