What a perfect day! Started fairly early-got to the parking lot at 6:30. It was completely socked in on my drive but made for a nice cold start. I was glad to have my windbreaker. The lower regions were filled with this beautiful red bush, living up to the name of Strawberry Peak trail. As soon as I got up to start seeing some views of the San Gabriel mountains it was crystal clear with just a few puffy clouds between the peaks, making for an absolutely stunning scenery.
The hike was real easy for me between starting early and me being used to doing much longer hikes. As for the false summits people noted-the hike is so short that I wasnโt expecting to summit yet anyways. Saw a snake on the way down! I donโt think it was a rattler but it crossed the trail so fast I didnโt get to see the head or trail. Looked like Western Racer but it was so fast, hard to tell.
Highly recommend this hike-fast and gorgeous!
