I like to add the term “turtle” in my hikes title because I am the slowest hiker around. Older adults and children all pass me by casually while I go slow and steady! I sometimes feel like I’m really trucking and still people pass me by lol. The trail has a mile that is along a sheer cliff and the trail is only 2-4 feet wide along a very soft crumbly Rock cliff up and down. ( it is falling while you walk) somehow it is still fairly easy to traverse as it is flat and today it was dry. Many spots are shores up with sheet metal or chain link or wood slat walls so the trail doesn’t wash away. Many yuccas stabbed me through my yoga pants woke! But it’s hard to avoid them once you get to the sign that says strawberry peak and the next mile is up up up! And fairly narrow and scramble-ey In spots. We could find a geological marker at the top but we signed in to the metal register box and visited with other summiting and some were going down on the other side. It was in the 30s-40s temp depending on if the cold wind was blowing or if the sun peeked out. Met maybe a dozen other hikers along the way.
