Watch out for rattlesnakes! Around one of the bends leading to the unmarked summit trail, we spotted a long and loud rattlesnake. It made its way back to its lair with some persuasive rock throwing. The summit is covered in flying insects, which made our summit visit quite short. On the return trip and close to the same spot as the previous encounter, there was a smaller snake, perhaps a juvenile, coiled up and resting in shade.
