Great hike. It was a bit windy but nothing too out of control. I started at Red Box Trailhead and cruised to the saddle. I was excited to see snow, although nothing on the trail itself. The false peaks were fairly intense and teasing, but I knew each one brought me closer to the summit. The summit was awesome. I signed the trail log, took some pictures with the sign, and enjoyed the views of fog covered LA. Lunch was delicious. I had a PB&J Uncrustable, tuna packet, trial mix, and electrolyte water. Nobody was on the trail headed up. Headed back down, the trail was much more populated. I saw a couple fellow 6 packers, several dogs, and all smiles. I wanted to head up to Lawlor Mountain, but didn’t want to overdue it. Started early, ended early. Trail was beautiful and in great condition. I might try it from the Colby Canyon mountaineering side next time. I was happy to have plenty of water, food, and see the summit after my failed attempt at Santiago Peak. The trekking poles were a major help once again! Definitely one of the best purchases so far! On to the next…Ontario Peak!
