Really pretty hike with tons of variation. Make sure to take in the views from both the East and the West when you get on the ridgeline. Bugs were bad enough for bug nets, my bug repellent worked fine but my other 2 hiking partners were netted up. Pants would've been a wiser choice due to the tight areas of scrub brush but I managed with shorts just fine. Warm – and this was in October – don't know what this hike would be like in the summer months! Not much cover so a good sun hat would be recommended.
Pretty stiff, steep, rocky ascent to the summit. I saw a report somewhere (maybe AllTrails) that said scrambling was required but this is not the case.
Prior to the ridgeline there's a long section of single-track so remember to step off the trail slope-side when letting passersby through. We even encountered a mountain biker.
There are a couple forks on this trail without signage so you need to know where to go. We didn't know this coming in so were lucky to have my Gaia GPS guide us through.
All-in-all a pretty great hike. I really enjoyed all of the views, different foilage, and types of trail. Even got to see a baby horny toad.
