Hiked Strawberry peak on Saturday May 4, with a friend. We started at the strawberry peal trail head, located across the street from the Redbox parking lot. Arrived around 7 and was able to get parking in the lot, however when we returned from hike, lot was totally full with people finding alternative parking on the roadside. The first 2 miles of trail were a gradual incline and pretty mellow and was single track trail for most part. After mile two, the final mile and 1/2 to the peak was more intense, with steep incline, some rock climbing (nothing crazy but totally manageable), different terrains such as loose rock and sand, etc. We arrived at the peak and enjoyed the company of some of the fun local hiker groups up there, one group had created and carried a strawberry peak sign which they were leaving up there for future hikers 🙂 Also there is a geo catch box at the peak for those who are interested! The descend for the mile and 1/2 down was down with caution, with the different terrains and rocks, it could be pretty easy to get hurt if not being cautious. All in all the hike took about 4 hours. A beautiful trail, very little shade so definitely hit this one before the summer heat arrives!
