I eat peaks for breakfast! Started at 9 AM. Trail conditions were fairly flat early on, making it excellent for running portions of both the uphill and downhill routes to make up time on the lower section. The upper section is daunting, with several false summits and some quick elevation gain over boulders and sand that is the consistency of kitty litter. Happy to have had trekking poles as always. I was treated to some beautiful wildflower blooms along the trail and a plethora of butterflies at the peak. 10/10 for ambience on this one!

Enjoyed a quick break for strawberries at the peak before heading on down. A good deal of the lower section is exposed, so it warmed up quickly towards the base as I descended. Temps were around 68 at the summit, and car thermometer read 85 at the base when I returned to my car at 1 PM. Would definitely start this one much earlier next time around to beat the heat.
