Parked at around 10am. Restrooms were in the Red Box parking lot. Clean. Weather was sunny but cold. Windchill made it worse. Had to bundle up. Layers were a must. No real signage at start of trail. Trail was well maintained. Lots of early birds coming down. Didn’t use poles to ascend. Just to descend. Sun came out and felt so good. Layers came off. No real shade on entire trail. But it wasn’t too hot. I would imagine this much harder in the hotter months for lack of shade. Parts of the trail were pretty narrow. Had to side step off trail to let hikers pass. Some mountain bikers on trail, which surprised me on such narrow pathway. Definitely had to scramble towards the end. I prefer my hands and knees versus the poles. There were a couple of “fake summits” lol before I got to the real thing. Summited the Peak at 12:08pm. Had to get my bearings coming off summit. Made a wrong turn and ended up in the brush. Possibly where I lost my jacket 🙁 Used poles to descend. Great choice. It was pretty quiet coming down. The bulk of the hikers were earlier. Perfect weather. No flowers blooming. Only lizards. No snakes. Very chill hike. Loved it.
