Went up via scrambling route. Lots of snow the last half mile, didn't look like anyone had gone this route since the latest snowfall as we had to posthole through about a foot deep of snow. The boulders at the base of the mountain were snow covered and one wrong step could prove disastrous. The scramble up had some wet rocks so we had to slowly and deliberately place each step. We decided to come back down around the backside through strawberry meadow, but there was no trail and navigating proved very difficult. We went up a wrong canyon, postholing through sometimes waist deep snow, and had to climb up and down a ridge until we found the right way and eventually remnants of a trail. Ended up at Josephine saddle just after sunset and descended the rest of the trail in the dark.
