My first hike of the challenge!  Arrived at the trailhead just before sunrise and was on the trail around 6:30.  Beautiful sky  with the sun coming up behind Mt. Baldy in the distance.  Weather was perfect, mid-40’s but I warmed up quick while hiking and just needed a smart wool base layer on top after I got going.  I was expecting more snow but there were only a handful of spots on trail that had packed snow.  I had microspikes but didn’t need to put them on, trekking poles were sufficient.  First couple miles is really gentle and pleasant, that last mile and a half to the summit is a great workout.  Met two fellow 6 pack challengers on the peak.  Clear and crisp day, could see the entire valley, LA, Santa Monica and majestic views of a snow covered Mt. Baldy.  Highly recommend going on this hike now to capitalize on the snow-capped views.
