It was my first time doing this hike.   A permit was easy to snag a few days before.  This may have been because of the weather forecast.  The weather was not your typical summer day.  It was overcast with low clouds and the temps were in the 50s with some strong wind gusts.  The clouds were so low that there were no views from Little Belknap Crater or its big brother, Belknap Crater.  Belknap was really windy towards the top.  Alltrails showed a loop route around the crater.  I'd take the main trail up and back, which is well-defined.  I made the loop and there wasn't much of a trail.  I wish I got the views on this one, but I was also thankful not to have the sun out as the entire hike doesn't have much shade.  Looking forward to doing this one again sometime.
