Summit Mount Katahdin

Trailhead: Hunt Trail – Appalachian Trail

September 11th I started my way up to summit Mount Katahdin in Millinocket, ME via the Hunt(AT) Trail working my way up to Baxter Peak then across the Knife Edge Trail. This would be my seventh summit for Six Pack of Peaks: New England in 2021.

Despite the late start it was a perfect day for a summit and to do the traverse. Had blue skies and some clouds. Temps were cool and no humidity made it a more enjoyable hike. It did offer some amazing views along the way up and down the mountain. You could see many distant peaks. The summit offered 360 views and was welcomed by the setting sun. It was definitely more challenging but a beautiful hike.

Trails:

Hunt Trail(AT)-> Knife Edge Trail-> Helon Taylor Trail -> Chimney Pond Trail

Locations:

Katahdin Stream Campground -> Mount Katahdin-> Roaring Brook Campground

Definitely recommend this hike to others and worth the trip. Knife Edge recommended for those more experienced.
