Another great hike w/ my son yesterday!
I recommend:
Start early (7 hours moving time/9 hours total),
What to bring: plenty of water (son 6.5 L, me 4 L), food/snacks (energy gel shots worked wonders for me), sunscreen, chapstick, neck gaiter (dusty & sun protection), wear pants (narrow trail/low bushes).
Longest hike as of yet but with frequent rest breaks to take in the view on the way up it was totally doable and really beautiful.
