It was a beautiful hike to the top of Mount Diablo from Mitchell Canyon visitor Center. The 1st mile was pretty easy and then it is constant uphill from there.  This hike is best taken first thing early in the morning before the heat comes in and there is a restroom and additional water at the Juniper Creek Campground.  The trail was challenging and straight up hill to the top. We saw plenty of butterflies And the wild flowers were blooming.  Make sure to take time and stop and take in the vistas of all around the bay area and once you reach the top, you can see from the sierra Nevada, to the golden gate bridge, but towards Lassen and out towards Yosemite

We finished at 13.75 miles in about 5 1/2 hours. Just make sure to bring plenty of water
