Summit was the key word of our hike this year. As an alternative to last year's route from Mitchell Canyon we parked at Macedo Ranch staging area and took Wall Point to connect with Summit Trail. Even though the route is an out-and-back we enjoyed the varied terrain and views to the south and west sides of the mountain. We made one variation by returning through BBQ Terrace and Secret Valley but would recommend that as the starting direction instead and ending with Wall Point trail in order to avoid the late climb out of Secret Valley.
