Started off the hike early in the morning, around 6 A.M. The lot was already full with lots of eager hikers getting ready to enjoy their Sunday on the mountain. I stepped off at a good pace and easily separated myself from the “Pack”. Finally I was alone on the trail and able to enjoy the beauty in the silence of the outdoors. As I was hiking I noticed a fair amount of weekend campers enjoying their morning coffee. I trudged along and started to climb my way up to the top of Mt. Wilson. At the top I had a quick snack and noticed a large group of hikers, all wearing “6 Pack of Peaks” shirts. They looked like they were gassed and were in need of a break. At this point I started on the later half of the hike and began my descent down the mountain. As I made my way down I noticed the scars from the Wilson fires from back in the fall. Hopefully the mountain begins the healing process and goes back to its old self. I kept up a good pace and finally made my way back to the pack station. From there I rewarded myself with a burger and fries and enjoyed a cold beer.
