It was late August and the start of the Tarantula mating season that goes up until November. I had the exciting chance to see once on the fire road and waited for it to wake up and get out of the path of foot traffic.
The sunrise was up above the horizon as we were about 1/3 of the way to the top. Made for cool and eery views with the clouds sunken below the nearby ridges and peaks.
