This was a sunset hike. I thought that it would be a quick seven mile round trip hike. It was mostly uneventful. Doing the hike late in the afternoon avoided much of the heat although given the shade of the trail I think it still would have been ok as a midday hike. Encountered only a few hikers on the trail.  Saw what was possibly a skunk based on the color of its fur but it wanted to avoid me as much as I wanted to avoid it so it was good. I went up to the foot of the lookout but did not go up. On the way back, I took the wrong trail and headed south instead of heading back north to the trailhead. Fortunately a quick check of the map  got me on the correct trail after backtracking to where I went off the correct route. Good hike although the mileage is not the official six miles or seven.  The trail could use signage other than trailmarkers  in the area below the summit lookout tower and buildings.
