San Gorgonio is absolutely worth the challenge. The trail takes you through so many different types of terrain and microclimates, making the long journey even more interesting.
We backpacked and camped one night at High Camp where water was still flowing to filter and fill up. While it was nice to camp and break things up a bit, climbing this peak with a full, heavy pack made an already hard hike much more challenging. Will definitely be back to try it in one push with a much lighter load.
We were asked for our permit by a very friendly ranger so do make sure you obtain your permit to hike and camp here and print it out to bring with you.
No campfires allowed!! Viewing the large scorched areas on the mountain might help one see why fires are not allowed.
There are truly incredible people on these trails and feel so grateful to be part of this amazing So Cal hiking community.
