We did this hike as a last minute decision starting at 7:30pm. The sky was gorgeous with pinks and purples and we were able to watch with a spectacular view as the light evaporated into darkness.
On the way up we saw two types of birds. One flew beautifully around us in large swooping circles and the other was a larger family of quail.
On the way down we were moving fast and got to the lower middle section where the trees were and we step across two snakes that were about 10 feet apart. They were little bull snakes. They were very still and did not respond to us being there. Then the moths began swarming our head lamps for quite awhile. Made it to the car with No twisted ankle’s. The last part was rocky and step and had a coupling close calls.
It was a beautiful night and the weather was per.

*edit note. The snakes were rattle snakes. 🤪 I’m not very good at identification on my own.
