It was hot hot hot! We got a late start at around 10am by the time we parked and took off so the heat got a bit unbearable before we got to the actual peak. Absolutely no shade on this trail so we should’ve planned a little better but life got in the way that morning! We took a lot of breaks and made it through the false peaks, passing a lot of people on their way down. My sister and I had the mountain to ourselves on the way down, which was a little scary as we started running out of water but we pushed on and made it back together! The ranger at the bottom was very nice and ensured us he has seen worse and has had to rescue many people from the mountainside. So good to know I’m the future. Luckily there was a water fountain and spicket at his station that we basically took showers in to cool off lol. A tough day and we definitely suffered some heat exhaustion but good reminder that you can never have enough water and start early in the summer! We did the peak our way and kicked it’s butt!
