San Bernardino was a beautiful and steady climb. The trail was clear and featured a refreshing stream, beautiful meadow, and lightly wooded forests. The summit boasts views of San Gorgonio and San Jacinto, and Big Bear Lake.
The hike itself wasn’t as physically demanding as Mt. Baldy, but it was mentally demanding. We hit a wall around mile 7, and really struggled to reach summit. On the way down, I was having sock issues and extreme knee pain from previous running injuries.
Next time we’ll pack more water, as multiple people in our party ran out. The day wasn’t that hot, but much of the trail was exposed and we were thirsty. However, we all made it back safely and have another peak under our belts!
