My sister and I decided to start are 6-pack of peaks challenge with Mt Storm King at Olympic National Park. We started with Marymere Falls, which was about a mile from the Mt Storm King trailhead, but totally worth seeing. Our roundtrip ended up being a little over 5 miles with the added Falls route. The main course had several steep switchbacks the entire way up. We felt pretty winded about 3/4ths of the way up the mountain. At the top, there was a small sign that said “End of Maintained Trail”. You could call it here, or use the small green rope to scale the mountain to the very top! Easily the scariest part of the trail, but the views were worth it! We decided to have some snacks overlooking Lake Crescent at the summit, where two mountains meet, before heading back down to enjoy some fruit and a yummy lunch at the mouth of Lake Crescent.
