This was the first weekend after the national forests of Southern California reopened due to fire precautions. The trail to the summit of Mount Baden-Powell was composed of countless switchbacks with a pretty steady elevation gain. Even with the steady climb, I felt great and was able to get through the hike pretty quick with plenty of energy to spare at the top. The weather was perfect with clear, sunny skies and temperatures in the high seventies to low eighties. I assume the hike would have been a lot tougher if done in the midsummer with the blistering heat. The trail seemed to be well maintained too with plenty of space to hike without kicking brush with your legs. The summit was very rewarding with the American flag and views of the San Gabriels and the Antelope Valley.
