I managed to find the Vista Point parking area, but I still ended up inadvertently taking a much longer route to Castle Dome by starting by taking the Vista Point Trail to Kettlebelly Trail to Pacific National Scenic Trail to Crags Trail instead of simply taking Vista Point Road to Root Creek Trail to Crags Trail. This diversion had a scenic, woodsy feel to it, which ended adding ~4 miles for my trek for the day.
Once on Crags Trail I started to see some more people and ended up doing fine until reaching the Castle Dome trail, which was more challenging in terms of footing and making sure you were heading in the right direction. I made two wrong turns, which were minor along the Castle Dome Trail and didn’t add too much time.
