We started at 7am and it was barely 60 degrees with a light breeze. The weather was gorgeous, a perfect trail choice given the extreme heat everywhere else. It took us about 4 hours, including two extended breaks on both peaks, so may be only 3 hours of hiking. When we finished right around 11am, the last couple of miles we were feeling the heat but it was still only about 75 degrees. I was feeling the altitude, which surprised me. Be prepared if you’re sensitive to altitude changes.
We saw no one on the trail until about 10am, bunches of hikers starting later. So we had the trail mostly to ourselves.
And I almost forgot – the scenery was stunning! I’ll definitely try it again soon.
