Gorgeous day! Not too warm with a slight breeze. The trail was a little crowded to the saddle, but from there up, not too bad. Beautiful views all the way up and as we climbed, we began to rise above the clouds. Stunning views! The summit was a little crowded, and we waited patiently to take our victory pictures on the iconic over hanging rock. The very scary photo op is a daunting 1000 foot vertical drop to what would surely be a fast pass, one way trip, down the mountain no one would want to take. After having a bite to eat and taking a ton of pictures, we headed back down the trail. Not long after departing the summit, we heard a loud noise that made us think we were nearing a waterfall, but NO! The noise was a rock slide in progress, terrifying! We were happy to see no one seemed in harms way, but it was traumatizing non the less. We made our way down the trail with more appreciation for the fragile mountainside. What a blessing to get back to the car safely. All in all, this was a great experience and I recommend this trail, just a warning to be cautious about the rock slides.
